This occupation is found in large animal livestock veterinary businesses. Veterinary technicians typically work on behalf of the practice on their client’s premises, predominantly commercial farms and smallholdings.

Assessment methods:

Duration: 3 hours
Location: A suitable location as per VetSkill’s remote invigilation policy.
Graded: Fail, Pass, Distinction

The apprentice will be observed completing work as part of their normal duties. Additional questions will be asked as part of the assessment to allow them to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and behaviours in their normal work environment.
Duration: 6 hours
Location: A suitable location, usually the employers premises
Graded: Pass, Distinction

This will be a structured discussion between the apprentice and the independent assessor and will provide the opportunity for the apprentice to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and behaviours. The apprentice will refer to their portfolio to assist with providing examples of their experience.
Duration: 75-90 minutes
Location: A suitable location, usually the employers premises
Graded: Pass, Distinction
